Update!!

Kallie is now 3 years old!!! She is still attending Mother's Day Out and we're starting to think about pre-k for next year :)

I have been working at Dillard's in kids shoes for about 4 months now and I will finally start teaching soon!! I've been hired as a substitute teacher for Bryan ISD for the next school year, 2 jobs! eek! and I will begin courses for teacher certification during the school year this year.

Kallie and I are finally moving into our own place tomorrow!!! It's been a year and 3 months since we moved back to Texas and I could not be more grateful for all the help and love my parents have shown us while we've been living with them, but it's time to step out on our own and begin a new life together.

I'm still seeing my awesome boyfriend, Chris Rahman, who is a total sweetheart and great for me and for Kallie. (it'll be a year since the day we met on September 9th!!)

and I think that's all for now...I'm really not very good at blogging...lol

Kallie and I have come a long way since May, we are so happy living in Texas. She is smart, beautiful, and happy; my precious daughter. She is still having a great time with both Mother's Day Out and her dance class at Suzanne's School of Dance. We love spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Skillman, Uncle Ross comes to visit too. And we go to see Grammy and Gramps Black every Sunday.
Update on me: I'm still working at Brazos Christian School in the After Care program and *big news* I just completed all the required credits for my BA, so...I'm officially a college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies. Next step: get my teaching certification, this requires a bit more money, a few tests, and a year of teaching on a probationary certification, since I'm going the alternative certification route. It is a bit more difficult to recieve a full-time teaching position for the first year when going this route, however, after the first year, I will be fully certified. Short version, I can be teaching when the fall semester starts, now I just need to find out where.
Since the divorce has been finalized, I have been able to fully enjoy my life. I am so happy where I'm at, with school, with work, with Kallie, and with my boyfriend Chris. He's my big sweet teddy bear and I love him, and he's such a good male figure for Kallie to see her Mommy with.
I'm looking forward to starting my career, getting a place for Kallie and I to live, and settling into my new life some more. I'm so happy and can't wait to start a new chapter, me and Kallie against the world, bring it!

College

Like most people, I went to college directly out of high school, I went to a junior college where I lived for 3 1/2 years, graduated with my Associates in Arts degree and then went on to get as many of my basic courses 'out of the way' there as I could. After I left Blinn College, I went to Sam Houston State University, during my first semester, I met and married my husband Jake, he was already in the army, stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas and was about to deploy to Iraq for the first time just 2 months after we got married, so I left school to be with him. After almost 4 years of marriage, 2 deployments, and the birth of my daughter, I finally went back to school, I'm doing online school through Ashford University, getting my bachelors degree in Educational Studies and a teaching certification for secondary education, which means I can teach at a high school level and it would be my preference to teach high school English. I started once during Jake's first deployment, again when I was pregnant, and finally started again a few months ago. Now it's been a few months since I started again, my 4 year anniversary has come and gone and my daughter's 2nd birthday is rapidly approaching and I am Very proud to say that I have only seven 5-week courses left, 7...and then I Finally graduate with a bachelors degree and a teaching certification that will give me the opportunity to have a career in something I love to do and am passionate about. I have really enjoyed being able to spend all this time with my daughter, not working, not having to send her to daycare, and giving her the ability to depend on me. And now, she'll not only be able to look up to me for accomplishing my goals and strive to do the same in her own life, but when the day comes that I need to start working again, our schedules will coincide, since she will be starting school before I know it (eek!) and I can continue to be there for her as much as I'd like to be (although I'd love it if I could sit in on all of her classrooms until she graduates high school haha). I am so thrilled that I am so close to my goal, only 7 more classes to go!!

good friends..

Today, Kallie and I went to go play with her little friend KJ and his mom Mandee, we had a fun time just sitting around chatting while the kids played, even though they weren't sharing too well haha, but it always takes them some time to get used to each other :) We're both looking forward to the kids upcoming birthdays, Kallie will be 2 on July 20th and KJ will be 2 on September 9th, they have another little friend that they play with, Makayla, who is also turning 2 soon, sometime in August I believe. It's a lot of fun to have friends with young kids the same age as your own, they all do similar things and are around the same level of speech and just so darn cute to watch. Also fun is that we're about to have some fun birthday parties and lots of cute presents for all of them, very exciting time! KJ has a motorized 4wheeler that Kallie loves, so she's definately going to be getting a pink one for her birthday! ;) well, I'm off to get some homework done, I'm going to try to keep up with this whole blog thing as best I can.

Testing my phone blogging abilities...

My first blog...

So I have been seeing many blogs posted by friends of mine and it looks like it might be a great new way to keep family and friends in touch with my life, daily activities and adventures, hence the title, A Day in the Life. Since I'm pretty good about keeping up with facebook, pictures etc, I don't think I'll have too hard of a time keeping up with posts here, except my life is pretty boring, so I may run out of things to say :) This is also mostly to keep everyone up to date on what's going on with Kallie, my little mini-me, her age etc. when she starts school, fun things she gets to do, stuff like that...oh and of course, pictures. I hope you enjoy reading my posts as I get started on this and bear with me as I struggle through it and make changes :)
